Lewis “Dee” McQuillen, Sr., 94, of Highland Springs, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maxine and Ethel Mustain McQuillen; great grandchild, Meghan Prince, and is survived by his loving wife of 76 years, Mildred E. McQuillen; sons, Lewis David McQuillen, Jr. (Barbara Sue McQuillen), Danny L. McQuillen (Constance McQuillen); daughter, Connie M. Davis; 7 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and a large circle of extended family and friends.

Dee served two years in the coast guard and then worked as a commercial fisherman and oysterman before working as an officer for the Virginia Marine Police where he retired after 24 years of service. He loved spending time with his family and was an avid hunter and fisherman, and was the former president of Brooks Hunt Club, and he passed that mantle down to his son.

The family will receive friends 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm, Monday, August 11th at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. A Funeral Service will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 12th at Journey Christian Fellowship, 3020 New Kent Highway, Quinton, VA 23141. Burial will follow at Washington Memorial Park.
