Obituary - John Alexander Lafoon
John Alexander Lafoon, 41, of Henrico, passed away on March 16, 2026 in his home.
Alex was born in Richmond on February 28, 1985, the only child of John and Bonita Lafoon. He was an avid outdoorsman and gun enthusiast, a proud Eagle Scout and graduate of New Kent County High School in 2003. Describing himself as a “jack of all trades” he worked as a mechanic for 23 years and became skilled at “fixing anything with an engine that runs on land.” He became a father in 2017, calling that the proudest moment in his life. Nothing gave him greater joy than spending time with his little girl or making her happy. She is “the apple of daddy’s eye” and “the best thing (he) ever did.” In July of 2024, Alex was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, a faith that gave him a renewed sense of purpose and strength.
Alex was preceded in death by both of his parents and all of his grandparents, leaving behind only his beloved 8 year old daughter, countless friends and “chosen family” who’s support of his daughter during this time has been unwavering.
Alex’s daughter and her mother would like to thank the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Mechanicsville Ward; Randy and Tiffany Harris and Jenny Dalton for their generosity, support and love for Alex and his daughter during his life and for his daughter during the most difficult time in her young life.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to any local charity benefiting youth or to the Mechanicsville Ward where he was a member.
Funeral services will not be publicized in order to allow his daughter to grieve as privately as possible. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date for those who wish to attend.
