Obituary - Joel David Street Sr.
Joel David Street, Sr. of Glen Allen, VA, passed away on February 11, 2026.
Born on December 24, 1938, in Benson, NC to Joel Rhodes Street and Nova Broughton Street, David was a devoted husband and loving father known for his sweet nature and persistent kindness. David retired from a long career in the pharmaceutical industry; in his early career, he was a master barber whose shop was located across the street from NC State University.
A longtime member of North Run Baptist church, David was also a 50+ year member of Hiram Lodge No. 40, Raleigh York Rite, Scottish Rite, and a charter member of Amran Shriners, Raleigh, NC. David enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, golf, woodworking, connecting with his neighbors, and playing songs on his guitar. His many projects included building golf clubs and beautiful, hand-crafted furniture.
He is survived by his sister, Doris and brother, Donald (Lynette), children Joel Jr. (Kate), Ben (Melissa), and Michael (Farleigh), and grandchildren Blaine, Brittany, and Walker. He was preceded in death by Nell, his beloved wife of 63 years, and his sister, Rose. He will also be greatly missed by his neighbors, many of whom have lived next door for decades, and his close friend, Dixie.
The family will receive friends and guests for a Visitation at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 23, 2026, at Bliley's Funeral Home on Staples Mill with a Chapel Service following at 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in David's name to the charity of your choice.
