In Loving Memory of Jaylen Evan Martinez

September 15, 2011– June 23, 2025

Though his time with us was far too short, Jaylen Evan Martinez touched countless hearts and left behind a legacy of love, hope, and light. Born on September 15, 2011, to his devoted mother Ciera Martinez and father Joey Rodriguez, Jaylen brought immeasurable joy and warmth into the world from his very first breath.

In his brief presence, Jaylen taught all who met him the purest form of love—a love that asks for nothing, yet gives everything. His soulful eyes, gentle spirit, and peaceful presence reminded his family of life’s most profound truths: that every moment is precious, and every heartbeat a gift.

Jaylen was cherished deeply by his grandparents, Anita and David Martinez, Joe and Annette Rodriguez who held him close and showered him with endless affection. He was also deeply loved by his aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers, and sisters and many family members- who celebrated his arrival and held dreams for his future.

Though Jaylen’s time on Earth was brief, his impact will be lifelong. He leaves behind a family bound together not only in grief, but also in gratitude for the time they shared with him. In every sunrise, every breeze, and every quiet moment, Jaylen’s memory will live on—forever a beautiful part of the hearts he touched.

A public service will be held for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that loved ones honor Jaylen by holding their dear ones close and living each day with the kind of openhearted love he brought into the world.

Rest peacefully, sweet Jaylen. You will always be loved, always be missed, and never be forgotten.

A visitation for Jaylen will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Woody, 1771 North Parham Road, Richmond, VA 23229. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM at Henrico Sports & Events Center, 1 All Star Boulevard, Glen Allen, VA 23059.
