Obituary - Hunter Franklin Hanback Jr.
Hunter Franklin "Frankie" Hanback, Jr., 71, of Henrico, VA, passed away on February 6, 2026.
Frankie was a proud graduate of Lee-Davis High School, where he formed lifelong bonds with classmates who remained some of his closest friends. He loved his time there, especially the years he spent on the football field. Those Friday nights, the camaraderie, and the sense of team stayed with him for the rest of his life, shaping the loyalty and generosity he carried into adulthood.
He cherished his friendships deeply, and none more than those within his AA community. The relationships he built there were a cornerstone of his life, and he poured his heart into supporting others on their own journeys.
Frankie is predeceased by his parents Hunter Franklin Hanback Sr and Barbara Jean Hurt Hanback. He is survived by his wife, Lynn; his daughter, Carli (Cody); his brothers Donnie (Lisa), Scott (Anna), and Lucas (Carrie Sue); and his sister, Chesley. He also leaves behind beloved nieces and nephews—Eli (Jane), Jackson, Isabelle, Hank, Bertie, and Hunter—along with his stepdaughters, Samantha and Katherine, and his granddaughter, Emory.
He lived a full and meaningful life marked by service, humility, and connection. Frankie valued nothing more than spending time in conversation talking about sports (Wahoowa), music, sobriety, and the everyday joys and challenges of life as a follower of Jesus Christ.
The family will receive friends at Bliley’s Funeral Home on Sunday, February 15, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., at 3801 Augusta Avenue, Richmond, VA 23230.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 28, at 11:00 a.m., at Christ Church Episcopal, 5000 Pouncey Tract Road, Glen Allen, VA 23059.
