George W. Allan, 94, of Henrico County, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.
George was a graduate of Washington & Lee High School in Arlington Virginia, and a graduate of the Conn Vocational School in Elkhart, I where he studied musical instrument repair. He also attended Carlsbad Junior College in CA. George served two years in the U.S. Marine Post Band in Camp Pendleton, CA. He was a member of the Epiphany Lutheran Church since 1956. He was also a past member of the downtown Rotary Club for 17 years.
George retired as manager and vice president of Boykin’s Music in 1997. He was previously the manager at Walter D. Moses Music Company. In his retirement, George repaired musical instruments in his home shop. He was well known as one of the best instrument repair technicians around. During retirement, he was a poetry lover, and led the poetry group in his independent living facility. His written words will always be treasured.
George was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Allan. He is survived by his son, Steve Allan, and his wife, Kelli; his daughter, Becky Mullins, and her husband, Tim; his five grandchildren, Sand Mullins, Lindsay Mullins, Jason Mullins, Elsbeth Allanketner, and Elowyn Butler; and his three great-grandchildren, Arlo, Ramona, and Wilhelmina. George is also survived by his sister, Rev. Elizabeth Orens, and her husband, John; and his nephew, Geoffrey Orens.
Services will be private. Interment will be at Westhampton Memorial Park.

Also, memorial donations may be made to Epiphany Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 1400 Horsepen Rd, Richmond, VA 23226. George’s other favorites were Red Cross, Center Stage, WCVE Radio.
