Trent, George Edward went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at the age of 82 after a diagnosis of cancer. He was born to Willie G. and Maud B. Trent on March 31, 1943. He was raised in the Oregon Hill and Kensington Avenue neighborhoods and attended Thomas Jefferson High School, after which he joined the Air Force and was an aircraft mechanic. After four years, he eventually returned to Richmond and in 1973, joined the Henrico Fire Department, where he worked at Stations 1, 8, and 17 and later on in the Fire Marshall's Office. He retired in December 1998 and returned to work in Logistics part time for eight years. Firefighting was in his blood as his father and uncle both worked for the City of Richmond Fire Department. George was an avid golfer and played with the Seniors at the Hollows Golf Club. He managed to have two holes-in-one during that time and yes, there were witnesses! He loved vacationing at Myrtle Beach and at Massanutten with his family. He never met a stranger and was kind to all. He loved his family, especially his two precious granddaughters. Above all George loved the Lord and knew Christ as his Lord and Savior.
George was predeceased by his parents and stepmother Jean Trent, and his brother Willie G. Trent, Jr. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Chris, a daughter, Michelle Trent, a brother, Nelson Trent (Linda), a brother-in-law, Carl Miller (Debbie), a sister-in-law, Cheryl Miller, and two granddaughters, Olivia and Stella who will greatly miss their Pop! Survivors also include many nieces and nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11a.m. on Monday, August 25, at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad Street. The family will receive friends from 9:30a.m. to 11a.m. prior to the service. Interment to follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the many doctors and nurses at VCU Critical Care Unit, Bon Secours Hospice and Suncrest Hospice for their compassion and care. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Grove Avenue Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
