Obituary - Gary L. Gantz Sr.

Gary L. Gantz Sr. of Henrico, Virginia passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025 at the age of 77. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Gantz; son, Gary Gantz Jr.; daughter, Melissa Holley; his parents, Irvin and Mildred Gantz; and siblings, David, Danny, Terry, and Lanny Gantz. Gary is survived by his sons, Shawn Gantz Sr. and Jason Shimp; his daughters, Christy Gray and Christy Shumate; his nephew who was like a son, DJ Gantz; his sister, Susan Boyce; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Known by "GG" to many, you could always find him in the garage working on something - whether it be a car, truck, or moped. His garage was lined with trophies and car memorabilia from his years of competing and collecting. As he got older, GG turned his focus into painting and building model cars with his son, Shawn Gantz Sr., as an outlet for his love of working on vehicles.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember Gary's life.
