Elizabeth “Beth” Marie Mowdy, 39, passed away peacefully after a short battle with an aggressive form of Triple Negative Breast Cancer.
Beth is survived by her mother, Deb Gribben and “Dad G” Scott Gribben; her brother, Josh Gribben; her sister, Michelle Patterson; brother-in-law Tyler Patterson; nephews Uriah and Wade Patterson; niece Macy Patterson; step-sister Alyssa Gribben; grandparents Bob and Donna Natole; and a wide circle of friends and family who will deeply miss her sweet spirit and hugs.
Born on September 5, 1986, in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Beth was an Easter Seals Ambassador who once had the honor of turning on the annual Christmas lights with the mayor for the city of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She proudly graduated from Deep Run High School in 2006, and was a lifelong Wildcat. After graduation, Beth spent her days at various day support programs in Henrico County, lived in a group home with people of similar abilities, and spent time at home with her family as much as possible.
More than anything, Beth treasured time spent with her family and friends. She loved balloons, M & M’s, playing games, writing in journals, collecting calendars, watching Wheel of Fortune, counting down to her next birthday, going to Target and Dollar Tree, eating at McDonald’s, and calling people on her phone. She also loved participating in Special Olympics, and was proud to be named this year’s Rookie of the Year in Henrico.
A celebration of Beth’s life will be held from 4 to 7 pm. on Monday, October 20, 2025, for family and friends at the Wyndham Swim & Racquet Club. Earlier that day, a private service, for family only, will be held at Mount Vernon Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Beth’s honor to Henrico County Special Olympics or to Caring Bridge, the site Deb used to post weekly updates on Beth’s condition.
