Obituary - Dennis Ray Wick

Dennis Wick, 77, of Varina and originally from Sidney, Ohio, drove his John Deere to meet Jesus on September 28, 2025.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Debby Wells Wick, their sons: Kurt and Ryan (Stacey) one grandson, three brothers from Sidney, Ohio: Ronald (Jackie), Bruce (Joyce) and Dale (Janice), brother-in-law Danner Wells (Cali Coulthard), local nephew Todd, as well as numerous other nephews, nieces and their children from Ohio.
Dennis and Debby met as young teenagers and were immediately smitten, never doubting their love for each other and rarely spending time apart. Dennis was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam era and served in Germany. Afterwards Debby & Dennis moved to Varina. He worked for more than 35 years as a Machinist at the local Nabisco plant beginning with the initial setup of equipment in the then-new facility. After work, he was happiest in fellowship with his family, on a tractor helping friends with their farming, in his workshop fixing things or making gifts, or volunteering at Four Mile Creek Baptist Church. He had Parkinson's disease for more than 30 years and battled it with strength, determination and grace.
Visitation will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home (Laburnum) on Sunday, October 5th, from 3pm to 6pm. A funeral service will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home on Monday, October 6th at 10am, with burial to follow at Four Mile Creek Baptist Church, 2950 New Market Road, Richmond, Va.
