David Lewis Dixon, Sr., 74, of Highland Springs, passed away peacefully on February 15 at Memorial Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.

He is survived by his five children: David Jr. (Stacy), Donny (Jamie), Jeremy (Nichole), Kimberly (Randall), and Jason (Kacie); his thirteen cherished grandchildren: Courtney, Emily, Jeremy, Matthew, Maddy, Ethan, Kadence, Audrey, Quinn, Juliet, McKenzie, Ryan, and Logan; and his brother, Eddie. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Delores; his mother, Betty; his father, Henry; his stepfather, Roger; and his sister, Sue.

David was a hardworking and devoted man who spent his life providing for his family and ensuring all their needs were met. He was a fighter to the very end, demonstrating strength, resilience, and determination throughout his life. He grew up in West Point and Middlesex and often shared fond memories of his childhood on the farm. He took great pride in his work, operating bulldozers, working at the paper mill in West Point, and later at the landfill in Henrico.

David found joy in life’s simple pleasures—fishing, eating meals at Waffle House, and faithfully doing anything asked of him by the love of his life, Delores. Above all, he treasured his role as “Papa,” and his grandchildren were a constant source of pride and happiness.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His family finds comfort in knowing he is reunited with Nana and rejoicing with our Savior.

Interment will be private. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In honor of David, the family invites you to visit Waffle House and enjoy a sausage biscuit and coffee in Papa’s memory.
