Rev. David Anthony Young Sr., affectionately known as “Boo” to his family and friends, laid aside the weight of his earthly body and was made whole again as he entered his eternal rest on September 14, 2025. Born in Henrico County on July 31, 1947, to Estelle Young Allen and David Anthony Young, he was lovingly raised by his mother and his stepfather, Louis Allen.

David gave his life to Christ at the age of 14 at Gravel Hill Baptist Church, beginning a walk of faith that shaped the rest of his life. He received his early education at Henrico Central and graduated from Virginia Randolph.

In June 1968, David married Bettie, with whom he shared 37 years of marriage until her passing in 2005. Together, they raised three children: David Jr., Deborah, and Nathaniel. David took pride in being a father. He was a steady presence, guiding his children with love, discipline, and care. For him, fatherhood and faith were deeply connected ,the same devotion that led him to nurture his home also called him into ministry.

Answering that call, David attended the Voice of Prophecy Seminary and, under the leadership of Rev. C.J. Washington, was licensed and ordained in 1982. Over the years, he served faithfully as Superintendent of Sunday School, founder of the Visitation Ministry, and Associate Pastor. Even through many health challenges, he remained a steadfast man of God, never wavering in his faith.

David built a career of over 35 years at Nabisco. After retiring, he devoted his time to the things that brought him joy: traveling, road trips, music, and time with family. He was an avid football fan and could often be found cheering for his team with energy and pride.

In time, David’s life was brightened once more when he married Andrea, whose love brought comfort, laughter, and strength to his days. She walked with him through life’s challenges and cared for him with devotion, remaining by his side until his passing. Through this union, he also gained a bonus daughter, JaViere, who affectionately called him “Sir,” a name that reflected both his strength and his gentleness.

David stood tall with a commanding presence, yet he will be remembered most for his gentle spirit, playful humor, and the warmth he brought into everyday life. His love for laughter could fill a room, and his sense of style never went unnoticed. If David was stepping out, he was stepping out sharp from head to toe, always dressed with care and carrying himself with unmistakable pride.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Estelle Young Allen and David Young; his stepfather, Louis Allen; his beloved wife, Bettie; and his daughter, Deborah.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Andrea; his children, David Jr. (Renee) and Nathaniel (Marceita); his bonus daughter, JaViere; his grandchildren, Brittnay, Rajaee, Malik, Tremel, Saleah, Diamond, Tracey (Travis), Faith, and Mason; his great-grandchildren, Sayarie, Kierstin, and Kasei; his brothers, Fred Lewis, Sanford Atkins (Carol), James Young (Linda), and Louis Allen; his sister, Juanita Allen; along with nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, church family, devoted friends, and all those whose lives he touched.

Above all, David was a man of God whose faith never wavered. Though his earthly journey has ended, his legacy of devotion, love, laughter, and strength will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
