Billie Garten, 94, of Sandston, VA passed away on October 24th 2025 after a long and fulfilling life.
Billie was born on December 5th 1930 in Beckley, West Virginia to Charles and Magnolia Rice. Billie was the second youngest of thirteen children.
Billie was married to Charles Garten Sr. on July 16th 1951. She was the proud matriarch of 13 children, 23 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Magnolia, husband Charles, 11 siblings, and 7 children (Robert, Peggy, Jimmy, Jerry, Rita, Carolyn, and Darnell).
Billie is survived by her sister, Little Beth Proffitt and her children: Louise Burton (Eddie-deceased), Lisa Sadler, Jane Pomeroy (Jack), Karen Paxton, Darren, and Kimberly Holdridge (Rick).
Billie was a devoted Jehovah Witness for 79 years. She felt truly blessed to be part of the Varina congregation at the time of her passing.
Visitation will be held on Thursday Oct 30th from 6-8pm and Friday Oct 31st from 1:30 - 2:30PM at Nelson Funeral Home at 4620 South Laburnum Ave Richmond, Virginia.
A graveside service will be held on Friday October 31st at 3pm at Washington Memorial Park at 6217 Memorial Drive Sandston, Virginia.
