Nominations sought for Jewish Community Federation of Richmond's 'Hope in Action' event

The Jewish Community Federation of Richmond, Weinstein JCC and The Jewish Agency for Israel will host "Hope in Action," Israel's Independence Day Second Torch Lighting Ceremony on Wednesday, April 22, at 5 p.m. at the Weinstein JCC.

The event, held in honor of Israel's 78th Independence Day, is inspired by Israel's national Yom Ha'atzmaut tekes (ceremony).

Seven people will be selected to light torches representing contributions that strengthen Israel and the Jewish people in various fields, including culture, society, education, art, sports and others.

Nominations are now being accepted of candidates for recognition int he ceremony; the deadline is March 25, and honorees will be announced April 22.

Nominators may submit as many as two nominees and may self-nominate. Candidates must be from the Richmond region.
