The newest pickleball courts in Henrico – at Pouncey Tract Park in Short Pump – will open Saturday, Nov. 2.

The county will host a dedication ceremony and "first serve" at 10 a.m., and then the courts will be open to the public.

The new $4.4-million complex features 12 illuminated courts, including two championship-caliber courts situated in the center of the complex, beneath large, permanent canopies. The park already features 12 existing pickleball courts.

The project also added a new 86-car illuminated parking area, improvements to the existing park access road and site walking and ADA sidewalk improvements.

The new pickleball courts are asphalt with acrylic court surfacing and LED sports lighting, in keeping with the lighting at the existing courts.
