Marie Thumma of Glen Allen recently received the Elmira College Key Award for academic and community leadership. A tradition that goes back to 1935, the EC Key Award is presented to outstanding students in their junior year of high school. Recipients receive an $88,000 scholarship over a four-year period ($22,000 per year) upon enrolling at Elmira College in New York. Sponsored by the EC Alumni Association, the Key Award recognizes students for high scholastic achievement, leadership, citizenship, and participation in extracurricular activities.
The following local students were named to the summer 2025 president’s list at Southern New Hampshire University: Iyana Peterson, Balaji Kadambi and Perla Alvarez Carranza, of Glen Allen; McKenzie Dorsey, Phyllis Gaines, Kelly Rambo, Danylo Herasymov, Lorenzo Woodard, Kimberly Allen, Christian Ramosroman, Jonathan Barnes, NikkiGiovanni Cofield, Amber Dunagan, Debbie Kaston Mann, Denise Eddy, Adrian Redford, Alia Bryant, Brandon Sears, Michael Pham, Kayla Blackman, Joseph Teegarden, Magdalena Jambrek, Antoinette Breheny and Modeste Folly, of Henrico; and Gabrielle Holley and Tonya Crosby, of Sandston. To qualify for the president’s list, full-time undergraduate students must earn a minimum 3.700 grade point average for the semester.
The following local students were named to the summer 2025 dean’s list at Southern New Hampshire University: Vijaya Bhetwal and Robert Murrell, of Glen Allen; Faith Lewis, Azza Ahmed, Jyllian Calloway, Samantha Alganaraz and Asia Farrar, of Henrico; Brandy Temple, of Sandston; and Dquan Walker, of Highland Springs. To be eligible for the dean’s list, full-time undergraduate students must earn a grade point average of 3.500-3.699 for the semester.
Riley VanSchaften of Glen Allen recently enrolled at the College of the Holy Cross in Massachusetts as a member of the Class of 2029.
Gov. Glenn Youngkin recently appointed Quan Tiet Schneider of Glen Allen to the Virginia Asian Advisory Board. Schneider is a senior market manager at Altria.
