Colin Clegg of Henrico recently received the Student Leadership Award at Bridgewater College in Virginia. The award recognizes his exemplary ability to act as a positive role model and to guide and influence peers within the teacher education program. Clegg, a History and Political Science major, is a residence assistant, a SOAR mentor, a Bible study leader for Campus Crusade for Christ, and president of Educators Rising. He is also part of the leadership team for the Community for Historical Education and is an honors student.


The following local residents recently were initiated into Phi Kappa Phi, a collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines: Alec Orsi of Henrico (James Madison University) and Pavan Kumar Ravulaparthy of Glen Allen (Virginia Commonwealth University). Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership.


Trevor Harris of Glen Allen was named to the MAC Academic Honor Roll at Alvernia University in Pennsylvania. Harris is a student-athlete on the Alvernia baseball team and is majoring in Sports Management. To qualify for this honor, students must earn a 3.20 grade point average.

Jalen Pierce of Glen Allen was among the students recently recognized for outstanding athletic achievement at Wilson College in Pennsylvania. Pierce received the Bill Kalbaugh Award for Academic Excellence, given to the men's basketball player with the highest grade point average.


The following local students recently graduated from Shenandoah University in Virginia: Kyrie Beiler, Madeline Berkle, Tyler Dossat, Seungwoo Goo and David Munoz, of Glen Allen; Sydnee Flores, Catherine Gilliam, Cassidy Holmes, Tamera Isiadinso, Avery Kirby, Kelly Lohr, Jon Long-Leary, Ai-Zane Mason and Brysen Ross, of Henrico; and Kamden Reed, of Sandston.


Ragib Mahfuz of Glen Allen has been accepted into the New York Institute of Technology.


Gov. Glenn Youngkin recently announced additional appointments to his administration: Board of Pharmacy – Tim Robertson of Glen Allen, pharmacy manager at Publix; and Virginia Health Workforce Development Authority – Sharon Alexander of Glen Allen, director of workforce initiatives at Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association.
