Shenandoah University baseball first baseman Noah Cornwell was named to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference’s first-team following a standout season. Cornwell, a graduate student from Henrico, led the ODAC with 17 home runs in 2025, which also set a new Shenandoah single-season record. He posted a 1.114 OPS and an ODAC-best 60 RBIs while leading the Hornets with 34 extra-base hits. Cornwell also was a first-team All-Region 6 selection by D3Baseball.com and ABCA/Rawlings.


Ragib Mahfuz of Glen Allen recently was awarded the Theodore K. Steele Memorial Scholarship at the New York Institute of Technology. Students must achieve a minimum grade point average of 3.75 to be awarded this scholarship.


Anne Ross Hope of Henrico graduated summa cum laude May 17 from Rhodes College in Tennessee. Hope earned a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. She also is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.


Adam Brooks of Glen Allen graduated in May from Fairfield University in Connecticut.


Nalani Payson of Glen Allen recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree in History from Tufts University in Massachusetts.


The following local students were named to the spring 2025 dean’s list at Tufts University in Massachusetts: Nalani Payson, of Glen Allen; and Diamond Lightfoot, Lexi Pasternak and Nate Pfeffer, of Henrico. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a minimum 3.4 grade point average for the semester.


Ava Walker of Glen Allen was named to the spring 2025 honor roll at Eastern Mennonite University in Virginia. To qualify for the honor roll, students with a minimum of 16 credit hours must earn a 3.85 or higher grade point average for the semester. Walker, who also made the dean’s list, is majoring in Psychology.
