Sydney Yarema of Glen Allen recently was initiated into Phi Kappa Phi, a collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Yarema is a student at Winthrop University. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership.


Jerrell Hodges of Glen Allen, a student at Alvernia University in Pennsylvania, was named to the MAC Academic Honor Roll for the fall 2025 semester as a member of the football team. This honor recognizes student-athletes who competed in a varsity-level sport and earned a semester grade point average of 3.20 or higher. Hodges is studying Business Administration and Management.


Sophie Sands of Glen Allen and Luke Smyers of Henrico were named to the fall 2025 president’s list at the University of Alabama. To be eligible for this honor, students must earn a 4.0 grade point average for the semester.


The following local students were named to the fall 2025 dean’s list at the University of Alabama: Bryce Maxey, Ruby Nienaber and Ella Vantre, of Glen Allen; and Virginia Garner, Caroline Porterfield, Lucy Whitaker, Ann Collier Ferguson, Dylan Norris, Dylan Connell, Berkeley Edmunds, Alex Hudak, Reagan Martin, Clark Berry, Laney Gilman and Bayler Ruth, of Henrico. To qualify for this honor, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher.


Erin M. Hopewell of Glen Allen was named to the fall 2025 dean’s list at Iowa State University. To be eligible for this honor, students enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours must earn a semester grade point average of 3.50 or higher. Hopewell is majoring in Liberal Studies.


The following local students were named to the fall 2025 dean’s list at University of Maryland Global Campus: Chelsie Brown, Peter Conti, Tracy Davis, Marion Green, Amia Gayle, James Goldthwaite, Gelila Legesse and Aaron Rochkind, of Glen Allen; and Yosef Alkhadra, Andrew Bennett, Michelle Black, Tanique Clarke, Maliik Coleman, Jenell Crews, Jace Darling, Kirsten Edwards, Sielalla Lemessa, Nicole Liggins, Kristin Mangum, Shammara Miller and Ricardo Pinzon, of Henrico. To be eligible for this honor, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher.


Godfrey Delaney of Henrico was named to the fall 2025 dean’s list at Norwich University in Vermont. To qualify for this honor, full-time undergraduate students must earn a minimum 3.4 grade point average for the semester.
