Gov. Glenn Youngkin recently announced that the following Henrico residents have been appointed to state boards: State Board of Social Services – Tony Whittingham Jr., chief operations officer at Diversity; Small Business Commission – Thomas Leonard, owner of Tom Leonard’s Farmers Market; Criminal Justice Services Board – The Honorable John Marshall, circuit court judge, Judicial Conference of Virginia; Virginia Foundation for the Humanities and Public Policy – Sarath Nathan, CEO and owner of Sarath Solutions LLC; The Cemetery Board – The Honorable Beverly L. Cocke, administrator of workforce development at Henrico County Public Schools and former member of the Henrico School Board (Brookland District).
The following local residents graduated in May from the Georgia Institute of Technology: Pranesh Anand, Arya Bhargava, Sudeep Dharanikota, Jackson Dike, Carson Elliott, Samuel Hall, Karpagam Karthikeyan and Sive Lowell, of Glen Allen; and Christian Kang, of Henrico.
Wilson College in Pennsylvania recently announced that Jalen Pierce of Glen Allen was one of 68 students named a Scholar Athlete by the United East Conference for the winter and spring 2025 seasons. To be selected, a student-athlete competing in a winter or spring conference-sponsored sport must achieve a grade point average of 3.2 or higher for the winter and spring semesters and must have been in good standing on his or her team.
