Table of Contents
Students interested in attending one of the nation’s military service academies will have an opportunity to learn more during a Service Academy Day event hosted by U.S. Congressman Rob Wittman (R-VA-01) and Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan (D-VA-04) Saturday, Sept. 13, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Virginia War Memorial, 621 S. Belvidere Street.
The event is designed to provide prospective applicants and their families with a comprehensive overview of the admissions process for the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the Naval Academy, the Air Force Academy and the Merchant Marine Academy. Representatives from the academies will be present to answer questions and explain their admissions processes.
Unlike applicants to most universities, those who apply to the service academies first must secure a nomination from a member of Congress, the vice president, or another qualified source before being considered for admission. Students who attend the Richmond event will gain a clearer understanding of the requirements, as well as the academic, physical and leadership standards expected of candidates.
Attendance is free, but RSVPs are requested at this link.
