U.S. Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan (D-VA-04) Sept. 9 announced the launch of her 2025 Veteran of the Year Program to honor and recognize veterans residing in Virginia’s Fourth Congressional District for their service.

“Veterans sacrifice their time, bodies and lives to keep our nation safe. They embody the values we should all strive to live by and deserve our recognition and sincere gratitude,” said McClellan. “My third annual Veteran of the Year Program recognizes the sacrifices made by veterans living in Virginia’s Fourth and celebrates the achievements of hundreds of thousands of veterans who have given back to our communities.”

Eligible nominees must be honorably discharged veterans of any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces and must currently live in Virginia’s Fourth. Nominations for the program are due by Friday, Oct. 24.

Last year, McClellan honored Lt. Col. Curt Powell, a 23-year U.S. Marine Corps veteran, who served two combat deployments and continues to give back to his community in Chesterfield County.

In 2023, she honored Chief Warrant Officer Four Charles H. Talley, Jr., who dedicated 34 years of his life to the U.S. Army before continuing to selflessly support aspiring young professionals and active-duty servicemembers in Virginia’s Fourth.
