U.S. Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan (D-VA-04) is accepting applications from high school students in her district who are interested in serving on her Youth Advisory Council for the 2025-2026 school year.
Students on the council will be able to engage with McClellan and her Congressional staff during monthly meetings.
“Students are the lifeblood of our nation and its democracy, and they need a space to learn and let their voices be heard at the federal level of government,” said McClellan. “My Youth Advisory Council Program provides just that: a platform to demystify our political processes for students and empower them to share their perspectives. I’m excited to get to know these students throughout the next school year!”
The Youth Advisory Council is open to all high school students currently residing, or attending school, in Virginia’s Fourth Congressional District, which includes E astern Henrico.
During its monthly meetings, the council will learn more about the legislative body, constituent casework and district outreach. The students also will work on a project that they share with McClellan and discuss what they have learned.
Eligible high school students can submit their applications until 11:59 p.m., Sept. 19. The council will meet from October through May.
