A man died days after being injured in a hit-and-run crash in Henrico County, police confirmed on Tuesday.
The crash happened around 7:45 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 23, near the intersection of Brook Road and Bridgeport Avenue. Austin Chance Ratliff, 36, was found in the northbound lanes of the road with "obvious signs of trauma."
Ratliff was taken to an area hospital, but died from his injuries on Thursday, Nov. 27.
Ratliff's father, Buck Ratliff, said his son was supposed to spend Thanksgiving with him in Halifax County and then visit his girlfriend in Dry Fork, near Danville, where he is from.
"He was found in the middle of the road," Buck Ratliff said. "Evidently he had got on the bus and went somewhere and then came back and got off the bus, was crossing over the highway to get back to where he was going home, where he was staying, and so that's when he got hit."
The driver of the vehicle left the scene, Henrico Police said.
