Henrico’s Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden is one of six Virginia nonprofits awarded funding through the annual Environmental Action Grant program from Columbia Gas of Virginia, in partnership with the NiSource Charitable Foundation.
The program, launched this year, distributed $30,000 in total funding to support environmental education and restoration projects throughout the commonwealth. Each recipient will receive an average of $5,000 to advance their work.
“We’re so thrilled to be able to assist these worthwhile organizations as they focus on environmental education and restoration across the commonwealth,” said Columbia Gas of Virginia President and Chief Operating Officer Jennifer Montague.
Other grant recipients include the Green Infrastructure Center, the Urbanna Oyster Festival Foundation, Friends of the Rappahannock, Blue Ridge Prism and the Elizabeth River Project.
Columbia Gas officials said the Environmental Action Grant program builds on the company’s broader commitment to sustainability and community investment. In 2024, Columbia Gas and the NiSource Charitable Foundation contributed more than $400,000 to charitable organizations statewide.
