Keep Henrico Beautiful to host fourth annual Plant Native! Festival at Dorey Park Oct. 18

Keep Henrico Beautiful, along with the Henrico County Division of Recreation and Parks, Dorey Park Farmers Market and Plant RVA Natives, will host the 2025 Plant Native! Festival from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18 at Dorey Park, 2999 Darbytown Road in Varina.

The Plant Native! Festival is a celebration of native plants, the ecosystems they support and local organizations working hard to protect the environment. The event will feature native plant vendors, information booths and food trucks. Admission is free.

At the event, Keep Henrico Beautiful will give away 750 one-gallon potted trees on a first-come, first-served basis. Each household may receive one tree. Interested attendees  are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the conditions in their yard before the event. The tree varieties available for the giveaway include white oak, witch hazel, arrowwood, Chickasaw plum and sweetbay magnolia.

In addition, Keep Henrico Beautiful will host an insect costume contest. Prize categories will include best homemade, best overall and most realistic. The event will also offer a kids’ costume showcase in which all participants ages 12 and under will receive a prize. To participate, sign up at the workshop tent at the festival between 9 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.

Dorey Park Farmers Market also will distribute $10 vouchers for guests to redeem for native plants. Vouchers are only available to use at the festival and are limited to one per household.
