Despite its name, Richmond International Airport has not offered flights to international destinations for more than a decade.

But that changed June 7, when a BermudAir flight departed the airport for L.F. Wade International Airport in Hamilton, Bermuda.

It was the inaugural flight of what will be twice-weekly service to the island. Flights will run on Wednesdays and Saturdays using BermudAir’s Embraer aircraft.

“Today marks an exciting new chapter for Richmond International Airport with the launch of nonstop international service to Bermuda,” Capital Region Airport Commission President and CEO Perry J. Miller said on Saturday. “We are proud to partner with BermudAir to offer a seamless, two-hour connection between Virginia’s Capital Region and one of the world’s most stunning island destinations. This new route not only enhances travel options for our community, but also strengthens tourism ties, opens the door for business and cultural exchange, and supports broader economic development efforts across the Richmond region.”

Flights to the island are about two hours in length.

“This new Richmond route is a meaningful addition to BermudAir’s growing network,” said Adam Scott, founder and CEO of BermudAir. “Richmond’s blend of history, innovation, and Southern charm makes it an ideal match for Bermuda. We’re proud to connect these two vibrant communities and provide travelers with a unique link between coastal beauty and capital city culture.”

Passengers have the choice between business and economy class seating, with complimentary in-flight entertainment, alcohol, other refreshments in both classes.
