Early in-person voting for the June 17 primary election is underway at Henrico’s Voter Registration and Elections offices, and county voters also may cast ballots by mail or by dropping them off in one of five drop boxes in the county.
Henrico voters led the state Friday – the first day of early in-person voting – with 172 ballots cast, according to Henrico General Registrar Mark Coakley. Through Monday, 269 county voters had voted early in-person. As of May 2, the Henrico Voter Registration and Elections Office had mailed more than 11,000 absentee ballots, Coakley said.
The primary ballot features Democratic races for governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general and the House of Delegates. There is not a Republican primary election in Henrico.
County voters can cast their early ballots at the offices’ Henrico Government Center and Eastern Government Center locations from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, through June 13.
The offices will be open for in-person voting on the two Saturdays prior to the election, June 7 and June 14. An additional voting location will open at Varina Area Library June 2-14.
Voters also may return completed absentee ballots to five drop boxes throughout the county.
Polling locations will be open for in-person voting on Election Day, Tuesday, June 17.
To participate in the primary, voters must register or update an existing registration by Tuesday, May 27.
