The Highland Springs H.S. MCJROTC Color Guard presented the colors at the Sea Services Luncheon Oct. 22, which marked the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps.

Hosted by the Richmond Council of the Navy League of the U.S. at Willow Oaks Country Club, the luncheon included a commemorative cake ceremony, music by the Mechanicsville H.S. string quartet, and Gunnery Sergeant Jerome E. Atger, USMC (Ret.) as guest speaker.

The Navy League's Richmond Council supports JROTC programs at several area high schools, in addition to supporting ships, personnel and families of the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine, and Military Sealift Command.

In addition to hosting luncheons, the Navy League also organizes group activities that include day cruises, tours of military bases, visits to air shows and commissionings, and an annual golf outing.
