For three decades, Henrico's Rollingwood community in the Near West End has held a party during the fading hours of Halloween daylight, complete with deejay, costume contest and refreshments.

This year, as always, the streets were full of monsters, fairies, witches and superheroes grooving to the music and admiring each other's outfits. A few less-traditional costumes also made appearances – from a Kool-Aid pitcher and a father-daughter "chopsticks set" to Dorothy's dog, Toto, romping through a graveyard wearing his basket.

Afterwards, fortified with pizza and pop, the kids took off to make the rounds of the neighborhood and trick-or-treat.
