Henrico Zaxbys location closes

A Zaxbys restaurant in Henrico's Near West End has closed permanently, a company official confirmed to the Citizen Sept. 4.
The location at 5816 West Broad Street, near the intersection of West Broad and Libbie Avenue, closed this week. Signs posted on the restaurant's drive-through window and doors encouraged patrons to visit the chicken chain's closest other location, at 9110 Staples Mill Road.
The closure was recent; several cars waited in the drive-through lane Thursday at lunch time, unaware that the location was closed. Inside, chairs were stacked neatly atop tables. The location still appeared on the Zaxbys website as of late Thursday afternoon.
"Unfortunately, one of Zaxbys' franchisees made a business decision to close the restaurant at 5816 West Broad Street in Richmond," company spokesperson Alyssa Feldmann wrote in an email. "It’s always a difficult decision when Zaxbys or a franchisee decides to close a restaurant. We appreciate the patronage of our loyal guests and hope they will visit other Zaxbys in the area."
In addition to the Staples Mill location, one other Zaxbys is located in Henrico (at 4798 South Laburnum Avenue).
