Henrico woman injured in fatal Chesterfield hit-and-run

A Henrico woman suffered life-threatening injuries in a hit-and-run incident on I-95 in Chesterfield County in the early morning hours of Nov. 22 that left another man dead.
The incident happened at about 2:24 a.m. on I-95 South near Exit 61B. A 2014 Jeep Compass, driven by 34-year-old Asti Naimah Lacy of Henrico, and a 2014 Nissan Altima, driven by 27-year-old Anthony Lee Crawford of Chesterfield, were stopped in the right travel lane, according to police, and Lacy and Crawford were standing near their driver's-side doors near the center lane when they were struck by another vehicle, according to Virginia State Police.
Crawford was pronounced dead at the scene, while Lacy was seriously injured and taken to VCU Medical Center for treatment.
On Nov. 25, police announced that they had arrested 26-year-old Dangelo D. Layton of Emporia and charged him with hit and run and reckless driving.
Police are unsure why Lacy and Crawford were stopped and standing in travel lanes.
