Henrico County will host a free showing of the documentary film Speaking Through Me as part of a community event Monday, May 12 focused on youth empowerment, mental health resilience and substance misuse prevention.
The event, titled The Power of Possibility: Speaking through our Stories, will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Henrico Theatre, 305 East Nine Mile Road. It will include a resource and vendor fair as well as a panel discussion that will follow the showing of Speaking Through Me.

Produced by the Warren Center for Neuroscience Drug Discovery at Vanderbilt University, the film is generally suited for youth ages 13 and older.
The Power of Possibility event is held in celebration of National Prevention Week (May 11-17) and organized by the Empower Henrico Task Force, Henrico Prevention Services and the nonprofit Henrico Too Smart 2 Start Coalition. The event also will offer refreshments and no-cost instruction on the administration of Narcan, a nasal spray medication that can temporarily revive someone following an opioid overdose.
