Henrico to host caregiver discussion series in March, resource expo March 27
Henrico County’s Department of Outreach and Engagement will host a series of March events designed to provide caregivers with information and tools to better support older adults in their care.
The program, titled “Difficult Conversations,” will take place at 6 p.m. on Mondays, March 2 through March 23, at the Fairfield Area Library, 1401 North Laburnum Avenue. The discussion series will focus on practical issues caregivers often face, including fall prevention, how to become a paid caregiver, and ways to prevent caregiver burnout.
County officials say the goal of the series is to offer guidance, education and support for family members and others who care for aging loved ones, while helping participants connect with local resources.
The month-long initiative will conclude with a Senior and Caregiver Resource Expo scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon Friday, March 27, at Deep Run Recreation Center, 9900 Ridgefield Parkway.
The expo will bring together organizations and service providers that assist seniors and caregivers, giving attendees an opportunity to learn about available programs and support services.
The “Difficult Conversations” series is free and open to the public. Residents interested in attending or learning more can contact Henrico’s advocate for the aging at (804) 501-5065 or by email at agingadvocate@henrico.gov.
