Henrico Theatre’s summer-long live show series is returning for its fifth year with a new theme: Americana.

The three month long series features artists spanning across regions of American music like jazz, folk and bluegrass.

Richmond local star Desirée Roots is returning in June with her triple-threat talent in gospel, jazz and theatre scenes. Roots is a grammy-nominated recording artist and produced “Ella at 100,” celebrating Ella Fitzgerald's centenary.

In July, up-and-coming artist Eli Lev will debut, carrying on the folk tradition of Don Denver and Bob Dylan.

And North Carolina-based Nu-Blu will return for the third time to close out the summer live series with upbeat, blazing-fingers pick work and heartwarming bluegrass.

Presented by Henrico Theatre Company, the summer live series is producing a bonus-show starring Amy Berlin as Erma Bombeck. The one-woman show is a comic look at one of the country’s most beloved voices.

Tickets for the summer live series are on sale now. Individual tickets cost $10 and can be purchased online or at the box office. When three or more performances are selected, tickets drop to $7.50 per show.

Henrico Theatre also offers $1 movies and concessions on weekends and select weekdays. In June, the theatre will show the newly-released sequels “Twisters” and “Moana 2.”

The full summer series schedule:

• Desirée Roots – June 13 at 7 p.m. Roots will return to perform in her hometown as the opening act of the summer series.

• Eli Lev – July 11 at 7 p.m. The Maryland-based artist will share his four-part EP releases inspired by indigenous traditions he learned while teaching on the Navajo Nation in Northern Arizona.

• Nu-Blu – Aug. 15 at 7 p.m. One of the top acoustic acts in the music industry and husband-and-wife duo Daniel and Carolyn Routh will be joined by Austin Hefflefinger and Justin Harrison to deliver songs ranging from melancholy to exuberant.

• Bonus Show: Erma Bombeck at Wit’s End – June 20-29. Erma Bombeck was an American humorist who captured the frustrations of her generation by asking “if life is a bowl of cherries, what am I doing in the pits?” This comic show shares the story of how Bombeck championed women’s lives with wit that sprang from truth.
