Another pedestrian has died in Henrico County after being struck by a vehicle.
A 70-year-old woman was struck and killed just before 5 a.m. June 6 at the intersection of West Broad Street and John Rolfe Parkway in Short Pump. Henrico Police who responded to the scene found the woman, identified as Sharon Oakley of Henrico, with obvious signs of trauma and declared her dead.
The Henrico Police Crash Team is investigating the incident and closed the intersection for about three hours Friday morning.
A preliminary investigation indicated that a driver in a Toyota RAV4 was traveling east on West Broad Street when the vehicle struck Oakley, who police said was stopped in the middle of the road for an unknown reason. She then was struck by a second vehicle, a bobtail truck (the cab portion of a tractor-trailer), that also was traveling east.
Both drivers stopped and have been cooperating with police, according to officials, who said that speed and alcohol do not appear to have been factors in the crash but that Oakley's dark clothing may have been.
