Henrico Police arrest two men in connection with Fairfield Avenue homicide

Two men have been arrested in connection with a homicide in the Fairfield District earlier this month.
Police were called to the Mallard Greens Apartments off Fairfield Avenue at approximately 7:59 p.m. Oct. 4 for reports of shots fired. On scene, they found 19-year-old Xavier Christopher Carter dead from an apparent gunshot wound. Another adult male was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
On Thursday, Henrico Police announced charges against Antwan La’Cori Guyton, 28, and Corey Lamon Akers Jr., 30, both of Henrico. Guyton is charged with second degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Akers is charged with conspiracy to commit murder and possession of a firearm by a felon.
