Henrico Police Animal Shelter to host adoption event Aug. 16

Table of Contents

The Henrico County Police Animal Shelter will host an adoption event Saturday, Aug. 16 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 10421 Woodman Road, Glen Allen.

During the month of August, organizations across the country are encouraged to “Clear the Shelter,” as part of an initiative founded 11 years ago by Hill’s Pet Nutrition and NBCUniversal Local. The county shelter is coordinating with community partners to host a local Clear the Shelter event to find homes for dogs, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs.

Many of the pets will be up to date on their vaccinations and spay/neuter procedures, which means they will be ready to go home with their new families upon adoption. The Sussex County Animal Shelter will be joining the event with adoptable pets as well.

People interested in pet adoption must be 18 or older, though adopters do not have to be residents of Henrico County. To adopt, owners need a valid photo ID and pay an adoption fee, which varies based on the current spay or neuter status of the animal.

All pets available for adoption can be found online on PetFinder.

For details, visit the shelter’s website or call the Henrico County Police Animal Shelter at (804) 727-8807.
