Henrico County officials are investigating multiple reports of low water or reduced pressure in the area of John Rolfe and Ridgefield parkways in Henrico's West End.
The county also is working to fix a water main break that has caused low water pressure near Mechanicsville Turnpike in Sandston, which is unrelated to water issues in the West End, according to Henrico Director of Public Utilities Bentley Chan.
The county was notified about water pressure issues a little before 8 a.m. Monday. Henrico Public Utilities has not confirmed what is causing low water pressure in the western part of the county, but expects that the water pressure should return to normal levels in the late afternoon, Chan said.
“We’ve checked our systems, everything looks normal…we’re trying to figure it out because this is a little bit of a head-scratcher for us,” Chan said. “We’ve gone out and investigated, and we’re not seeing any kind of obvious issues in the neighborhoods at John Rolfe and Ridgefield.”
Later Monday afternoon, the county's Public Utilities Department posted on social media that officials had located a water main break underneath Deep Run Creek, off Gayton Road between Cedarbluff and Monmouth drives. The break "could be a contributing factor," officials wrote, but added that they could not confirm that it was the cause of all pressure issues in the area.
