Henrico Library launches 'Haunted Henrico Reading Challenge'

Table of Contents
Henrico County Public Library officials are inviting county residents to add a literary twist to their spooky season with their Haunted Henrico Reading Challenge, a BINGO-style activity that runs Sept. 22 through Nov. 3.
The challenge offers a grid of reading prompts and Halloween-themed activities designed to get participants in the spirit of the season. To "win," readers need to complete five activities in a row — across, down, or diagonal — earning them a choice of a seasonal scratch-and-sniff bookmark or a glow-in-the-dark bookmark.
Some of the activities include:
• taking a walk while listening to a spooky audiobook or podcast;
• watching a scary or thrilling movie based on a book;
• borrowing a cookbook and making a seasonal treat;
• calling the library’s “Spooky Storyline” at (804) 501-1946, through which new stories are shared every Wednesday throughout the challenge;
• reading a short story or poem by Edgar Allan Poe.
Participants can access the challenge online or by visiting a Henrico County Public Library to pick up a paper copy of the BINGO card.
