Henrico County officials are looking for community members who have reached their 100th birthdays so that they can honor them at the second annual Centenarian Celebration Monday, Sept. 22 at the Henrico Theatre, 305 East Nine Mile Road.

The free event, hosted by Henrico’s Outreach and Engagement Agency, will begin at 3 p.m. The two-hour program will highlight the lives of honorees and recognize the invaluable contributions of older adults in the community.

Attendees will also hear from the Virginia Center on Aging and other groups dedicated to enhancing social engagement, wellness and independence for older adults.

“One-hundred years is an incredible milestone that only some people reach,” Advocate for the Aging Ashlee Giles said. “Our work shows us how much we can learn from older adults, and there are centenarians right here in our community who are able to share their first-hand experiences of the past 100 years.”

Those interested in celebrating a friend or family member who is 100 or older should contact the Henrico Advocate for the Aging’s Office at (804) 501-5065 or agingadvocate@henrico.gov by Monday, Sept. 1 to learn how they can be included in the celebration.

General registration for friends and families is required and can be completed by calling or emailing the same contacts shown above.
