The Henrico Board of Supervisors

The Henrico Board of Supervisors is scheduled to consider four rezoning cases that would allow for 74 new houses and a new carwash, as well as more conservation land, during its meeting Jan. 27 at 6 p.m.

The board is expected to make a final decision on a request to rezone seven acres of land in the Tuckahoe District to build 14 single-family homes, after it deferred the decision in November. The proposed development, which would sit on the southwest intersection of Church Road and Covey Run Drive, was recommended by the Henrico Planning Commission but prompted some concerns from nearby residents about preserving neighborhood cohesion and the local wildlife.

Another rezoning request would allow up to 60 new single-family homes to be built in the Varina District along 17.5 acres northwest of Nine Mile Road and Newbridge Road. The planning commission voted to recommend denial of the request, and the board deferred the case in November after hearing concerns about drainage issues in the area.

The board also is scheduled to weigh two other rezoning cases: a request to allow for a carwash to be built on one acre of land northeast of Patterson Avenue and Quail Lane in Tuckahoe, and a request to establish one acre of land northwest of Wilson Road and New Market Road in Varina as a conservation area.

Board members also will convene for a special meeting on Tuesday at 4 p.m. to discuss the All Henrico Reads and new business programs.
