Nine local nonprofits will receive a combined $30,700 in funding through the 2026 HEART Community Impact Grants program to support environmental sustainability projects in Henrico County.

The program is providing grants from $1,500 to $5,000 for initiatives that include pollinator and community gardens, native plant cultivation and outdoor education.

Henrico’s Environmental Action Resource Team launched the program last April, awarding grants from $1,000 to $2,400 to eight organizations. The grant amounts were increased this year to support more projects with greater impact. The award recipients are:

• Beyond Boundaries, to support an Earth Day event at Osborne Park & Boat Landing;

• Blue Sky Fund, for outdoor education at Title I elementary schools of Henrico County Public Schools;

• Capital Region Land Conservancy, for restroom facilities at the Varina LandLab;

• East Richmond Beekeepers Association, for a pollinator garden at Highland Springs High School that will support the installation of the school’s first beehive;

• Good Neighbor Village, for planter beds and growing produce for residents;

• Greater Richmond Fit4Kids, for a Learning Garden club at Ruby Carver Elementary School;

• Local Ecotype Richmond Natives, to support a new nursery site with native plants available year round;

• Richmond Community ToolBank, to support volunteers building furniture for outdoor classrooms at HCPS locations;

• Woodland Restoration Foundation, to promote outdoor access and restoration of the area around the Woodland Cemetery chapel.
