Feed More celebrates first year in new Henrico building

As part of a week of festivities marking the first anniversary of Feed More's new home in Henrico, the nonprofit held an Oct. 17 safety day competition for drivers and warehouse workers that included obstacle courses and other challenges.
Driver Tim Hughes won the box truck competition, which involved performing various maneuvers and precision stops through a course lined with safety cones.
In the challenge to determine the best forklift driver, operators had to pick up a basketball using the lift truck and weave the forklift through undulating rows without running over cones or losing the basketball. The driver then had to raise the platform on the forklift and carefully slide the ball off the lift and into the hoop. Brandon Carter, receiving coordinator, won the forklift obstacle course/basketball game – but all competitors received rousing cheers from the coworkers and spectators who looked on.
Feed More – formerly the Central Virginia Food Bank – has been serving the Central Virginia community for more than five decades. In 2008, CVFB merged with Meals on Wheels to become Feed More, and in 2024, the organization moved into its new facility in Henrico's Villa Park. Its staff of nearly 100 employees is supported by a volunteer force of more than 200 volunteers per day.
