Red River Foods, a global supplier of nuts, seeds, dried fruits, snacks and grains, will invest $15.5 million to expand its Eastern Henrico County headquarters, bringing new processing capabilities and as many as 23 jobs to the region. Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin and company officials made the announcement earlier this month. The expansion will allow the company to move pasteurizing, roasting, seasoning, blending and packaging operations — currently outsourced nationwide — to its Henrico location near Richmond International Airport. Red River recently purchased the former Franz Haas Machinery building on Settler Road, adjacent to its existing location on Sprouse Drive, to house the new facility, which also will enable the launch of new snack mix products.
MPP Insights, a global leader in advanced data analytics and business intelligence based in Armenia, has established its United States headquarters in Henrico. Founded in 2005, MPP Insights specializes in advanced data engineering, business intelligence, and AI-powered analytics. Its clients span industries including finance, healthcare, logistics, and e-commerce. As part of its U.S. launch, MPP Insights has joined the Henrico Economic Development Authority’s Global Business Gateway, a "soft-landing" program based in Innsbrook for international companies. Through the Gateway’s RAMP (Research to Accelerate Market Potential) initiative, the company is receiving tailored go-to-market support, strategic advising, and business development assistance to help accelerate its growth in the U.S. The Greater Richmond Partnership also played a key role in bringing MPP Insights to Henrico.
Sheetz opened its newest location Sept. 11 at 9927 Mayland Drive in Henrico. That’s located at the southwest intersection of Mayland Drive and Gaskins Road, near I-64. The store is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Matt Shenk has opened Hellslayer Heating Company, a line of barbecue spice rubs, in Henrico County, Richmond BizSense recently reported. The company currently sells three rub combos that work on a variety of meats and seafoods including “The Sword,” a combination of paprika, garlic powder and cayenne pepper; “The Battle Axe,” a paprika and minced garlic medley; and “The Spear,” which is a mix of brown sugar, onion powder and mustard seed. Products are currently only available through the Hellslayer website, but Shenk is hoping to hit local shelves soon.
Wild Ones Play Café, a playroom and café for children and their parents, is taking over 4,000 square feet at 9131 Staples Mill Road in the Staples Mill Plaza Shopping Center, Richmond BizSense recently reported. The location will feature a series of play, gym and baby areas for infants and kids up to age 10, as well as a small café area for parents. Open play sessions, Mommy and Me classes, and private events like birthday parties are planned. There also will be a small sensory room for children who need a break from playing. Wild Ones founder Sean Tuck hopes to open later this year, prior to the holiday season.

Colliers International recently announced the following lease transaction in Henrico County: Collins Engineers, Incorporated – leased 2,672 SF at 4435 Waterfront Drive (Wood Thornton and Frank Hargrove represented the landlord).
Virginia Career Works - Henrico Center's September 2025 Career Fair will be held on Thursday, Sept. 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Fairfield Library.
