Back-to-school backpack drive planned July 18 in Glen Allen

Mad Science of Central Virginia will host a back-to-school backpack drive Friday, July 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at its Glen Allen location, 11551 Nuckols Road, Suite J, to benefit Henrico County Public Schools students.
The business is inviting members of the public to purchase a backpack and fill it with school supplies, then drop it off during the drive’s hours that day, or simply make a monetary donation instead. All backpacks will be distributed at the county’s back-to-school kickoff event July 31 at the Henrico Sports and Events Center.
Backpacks should be 15 inches in height for elementary school students and 17 inches in height for middle and high school students.
They should include:
• composition books or spiral notebooks;
• plastic folders;
• a pack of dry erase markers;
• a 24-pack of Crayola crayons;
• a 10-pack of Crayola markers;
• pencils;
• a pencil bag;
• glue sticks;
• scissors.
