Artists, restaurants and canal among topics of TSCOR speaker series
A presentation entitled "Iconic Artists of the Renaissance" and led by a former guide at the Philadelphia Museum of Art is among the highlights of The Shepherd Center of Richmond Open University spring speaker series. Christine Richardson will center her presentation around the artists Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and Raphael in the April 15 event at 12:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (9505 Gayton Road) as part of the Lunch & Life series.
Wednesday Lunch & Life events are free and open to the public; no registration or Shepherd's Center membership is required. Lunch is from 12 noon to 12:30 p.m., and speakers are from 12:30 – 1:30. Beverages and desserts are provided by the church; guests should bring a sandwich. St. Mary’s is located at 9505 Gayton Road; enter the church from the lower side parking lot.
Bill Leighty, former chief of staff to two Virginia governors, will kick off the series March 25 with a presentation entitled, "Disasters I Have Known."
On April 1, Al Goethals, UR professor of Leadership Studies Emeritus, will address the topic "Creating the Panama Canal, 1904-1914."
Meredith Lindemon, food and drink reporter for the Richmond Times-Dispatch, will wind up the series on April 22 with a presentation entitled, "How to Create Great Restaurant Lists So You Can Make Good Recommendations in a Pinch!"
There will be no Lunch & Life meeting on April 8.
In addition to Wednesday speaker events at St. Mary's Church, TSCOR also hosts Monday and Thursday lunchtime speakers, open to members, at St. Luke’s Church on Chippenham Parkway and Lakeside United Methodist Church in Henrico.
