Andy Offutt Irwin, one of the most acclaimed performing storytellers in the United States, will appear at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen July 23 at 7 p.m.

Irwin has been described as equal parts mischievous schoolboy and the Marx Brothers, peppered with a touch of the Southern balladeer. He is known as a one-person show, a master of sound effects and a diversity of voices, and as one of the world's most acclaimed whistlers.

Tickets are available online or by calling (804) 261-ARTS.

Irwin will be joined by local storytellers Darci Tucker and Gayle Turner.

Turner has been telling stories and appearing on stage for more than 60 years. He revels in sharing personal stories as well as tales from literature and history. As CEO of The Storytellers Channel, he enjoys helping people tell their stories well. He also is the executive producer of The Hearts Afire Storytelling Series, the Mountain Mac Virginia Liars Contest and the Stories Matter! Workshops and Showcases.

Tucker is a historian, author, playwright, actress and storyteller. She portrays more than 20 women from American history and performs in venues nationwide. She penned a book about how to portray people from history and literature, and she trains teachers and museum professionals to teach through storytelling and character interpretation.
