Code Lacrosse joins Richmond Strikers

The Code Lacrosse youth program has joined the Richmond Strikers and will be rebranded as Richmond Strikers Boys Lacrosse, the two programs announced June 19.

Code Lacrosse, founded in 2010, hosts teams for boys in elementary and middle school.

Jordan Clevey will run the day-to-day operations as the director of the program, while Code Lacrosse's director, Steve Ceperich, will provide program oversight as the director of development and coaching.

"From the beginning, we have provided excellent lacrosse opportunities in Richmond through camps, clinics, youth leagues, as well as our recreation and travel teams," Ceperich said. "We are extremely excited to join forces with the Richmond Strikers. Our great coaches will continue our simple but very effective approach to the game: teach the skills and concepts of lacrosse while emphasizing the integrity, respect, and sportsmanship within competition."

Richmond Strikers Executive Director Jay Howell views the merger as a good fit for both organizations.

"The Richmond Strikers are proud to join forces with Code Lacrosse," Howell said. "I am impressed by their strong lacrosse reputation as well as Code's belief that the foundation of a great lacrosse player is a great person. Code [now Strikers Lacrosse], will continue to pride itself on hiring the best coaches that are focused on player and personal development as well as providing high level playing opportunities."

Richmond Strikers Boys Lacrosse will host an informational meeting July 13 at 7 p.m. at the Richmond Marriott Short Pump.
