Milestones


The following local students were named to the dean’s list for the spring 2016 semester at Clemson University: Madeline M. Blankenship, William Joseph Ferguson, Mallory Elizabeth Knighton and Savannah A. Willis, of Glen Allen; and Lydia Oswald, Selene Franziska Hess and John H. Woolley, of Henrico. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a grade point average of 3.50 to 3.99.

The following students from Henrico County were named to the president’s list for the spring 2016 semester at Clemson University: Vanessa Kay Macpherson, Daly Elizabeth Rivas and Jane Elizabeth West. To qualify for the president’s list, students must earn a 4.0 grade point average.

Margaret Theado, of Henrico, earned a perfect 4.0 grade point average for the spring 2016 semester at the University of Akron in Ohio.

Malik Temple, of Henrico, was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2016 semester at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Ill. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a minimum 3.5 grade point average.

Anna White, of Henrico, graduated May 22 from the University of Vermont. She received a bachelor of arts degree in anthropology.

Gov. Terry McAuliffe has announced an additional appointment to his Administration: Steven J. Yob, PE, of Glen Allen, has been appointed to the Virginia Waste Management Board. Yob is director of public works for Henrico County.

Jessica Jahn, of Glen Allen, was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2016 semester at Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a minimum 3.5 grade point average.

The following local students graduated May 14 from Tulane University in New Orleans, La.: Joseph DiTrapani, of Glen Allen; and John Nester and Marycatherine Jessee, of Henrico.

Rachel Kaplan and Sarah Johnson, of Henrico, were named to the president’s list for the spring 2016 semester at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. To qualify for the president’s list, students must earn a 4.0 grade point average.

Jestin Kion Lewis, of Henrico, graduated in May from Mercer University in Georgia. Lewis received a bachelor of arts degree.

Jennifer Mull, of Glen Allen, recently graduated from Valdosta State University in Georgia. Mull earned a bachelor of science degree in education.

Shannon Hughes, of Henrico, was named to the dean’s list and honor roll for the spring 2016 semester at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a grade point average of 3.75 or higher.

Rachel Hernandez, of Henrico, was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2016 semester at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, Penn. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a minimum 3.4 grade point average. Hernandez is a master of occupational therapy student.

The Weinstein JCC will screen the documentary “Denial” at 3 p.m. When professor Deborah E. Lipstadt includes World War II historian David Irving in a book about Holocaust deniers, Irving accuses her of libel and sparks a legal battle for historical truth. With the burden of proof placed on the accused, Lipstadt and her legal team fight to prove the essential truth that the Holocaust occurred.
